I was on vacation in central Virginia last week (Lake Anna, if you know the area). Wednesday 6/25 we heard a really nasty crack of lightning .... and learned four hours later that it had hit a tree ON our rental property. 24 hrs later we learned that the tree was *still* burning from the inside out. Fire dept said it would continue to burn until taken down. Had to call the property manager to schedule a tree removal the next day. We had to leave before they arrived, but I can't imagine it's fun to take down a tree THAT IS STILL AFIRE INSIDE.
