I read this recently when I spent a week in Albuquerque. The New Mexico city is a character in this book as much as Louisiana is a character in James Lee Burke 'Robicheaux' series or Los Angeles is a character in Michael Connelly's books. Orenduff is an enthusiastic fan of Lawrence Block's 'Bernie Rhodenbarr the burglar' series, so if you are also, but have read all the Bernie books, you will feel right at home with the Pot Thief series.

Another hint: this book will make you hungry for New Mexico food. I'm sure I gained weight every day that I read this book. In fact, I resorted to reading it in various Albuquerque restaurants to save time.
Thanks for this book mention. I'm from NM. LOVE NM FOOD. Thankfully I can cook some of it. Maybe not quite the same, but enough to keep myself from flying there on the weekends. Mostly.
