you can buy a egift card and use it in the India store, that is what I do.
The egift card is not available in all countries, India being one of them, so I bought my in New Zealand, and before I complete the purchase, in the checkout page I change the country and so the gift card is created in rupees, so I only have one conversion rate between currencies when I buy the gift card not with every purchase. I do this because I usually buy in the india store, but you can try for other countries, to see if it works for you

edit: small problem india doesn't accept paypal and i don't fancy linking a credit card up for 2p purchases. Any ideas from frequent flyer club members?
