I'm thoughtfully enjoying it, currently about 25% of book 2. Bought the first 4 in a promo package for the Kindle. Wanted to figure out what was all the buzz about the hbo series. BTW, got a chance to watch the first episode and turned it off after the first 20 minutes or so - the desaturated looks and actors weren't up to my imagination, sorry.

Martin is a real talented writer, far more than, say, Dan Brown. He uses poetic language all the time, very melodic aliterations and such and rich imagery. It's not easy reading by all means, but the panorama framed by the narrative divided by so many points of view works marvelously.

I've had stop reading it for awhile because my reading queue keeps growing.
