Thanks for the tip. I've got good results this way by side-loading Linux Libertine otf.
First, I loaded the four fonts (reg, it, bold, boldit) but when I selected
Font-Weight Bold, I - of course - got the bold font,
so I took it out and now, chosing Bold, I just have a slightly darker font, perfect for reading.
