I will soon be able to test Calibre on a setup similar to yours. I have on order (from Amazon) a new 2560x1440 resolution monitor. I am getting an ASUS PB278Q 27-Inch WQHD LED-lit Professional Graphics Monitor.

I do have a 1600x1200 monitor and Calibre is not too slow.
