When you selected Power Off, it should have left the menu at that time, did you see the normal Powered Off screen?

You might want to open it up and see if the ribbon cable to the display has popped loose?

Not seeing that line between the Power off selection and the tabs at the bottom, is it supposed to be there?

Thank you for your suggestions. I've disassembled it, and the screen was broken indeed...
