If you're still stuck for Ukraine, I've found out that Andrey Krukov is Ukrainian (despite being born in Leningrad...) I've only read Death and the Penguin and The Milkman in the Night but thoroughly enjoyed them - must get round to reading his other books at some point!

Oh and throwing another one in the ring - for Greece this time, although you seem to be sorted for that country - Apostolos Doxiadis Uncle Petros and Goldbach's Conjecture
