I just realized that I didn't post the findings...
the adhesive was completely compromised and there were not one but TWO cysts in the bone under the prosthetic. the Doc said he could put the entire first joint of his thumb into the hole on the bigger one. and he's a BIG dude!

I asked how that happens... "from liquids seeping into the cavity"
