First make sure you're up to date on firmware. Then... train yourself. I have had both a Glo and iPad, and the technique used for the IR touch of the Kobo is very different from the iPad. Remember that it's not pressure on the screen that turns the page with the Glo, it's detection of the beams just above the screen being broken. I found that a somewhat slowish light touch worked best, whereas with the iPad you can get away with a very rapid prod.
