No, there is only one ADE 3.0.

Up until now you have been fortunate that the books you have bought were only available with the old DRM. This is because the seller either runs the old Adobe Content Server 4 (ACS4), or runs the new one (ACS5) set up to deliver books using the old DRM only, regardless of device or application.

As soon as the seller sets up an ACS5 server in such a way that it will deliver books using the new DRM to devices or applications that can handle it (such as ADE 3.0), then you will receive books in ADE 3.0 that Alf can not strip yet.

The safest option is to keep using ADE 2.0. By using ADE 2.0, you force the seller to give you an old-style DRM-ed book, or you won't be able to download and read it. I, and others here, are assuming that it will be a very long time before Adobe and the sellers will drop support for ADE 2, or more accurately, for devices that only use the old DRM. Obsoleting people's e-readers without a good reason would cost them many customers.
