When Sony tried to fulfill my pre-order for the PRS-700 and run the charge on the new Chase credit card, it failed because I hadn’t switched the account on. This is done by simply calling the telephone # printed on the sticker attached to the credit card. I’m bi-national and spend time in both Ireland and USA and often don’t get to my snail mail in a timely manner. So, the bottom line is that Sony xld my order and sent the email cancellation notice that I mentioned in my original thread (rant!). I will take full responsibility for this but wanted to help others not to make the same (my) mistake.
To answer your question Desertgrandma, I’m not sure if they would give me the original offer now, which was a $150 credit for opening up the credit card account and charging anything over $299 on it. In fact, I’m not even sure if Chase would allow me to switch that card on now, especially since I was supposed to do so within seven days of receipt and it’s now been almost a month.
Anyway, the way I’m looking at all of this is that it may actually be a blessing in disguise. I really want to hear more from folks in this forum who get to have hands on experience with the new PRS-700 reader, before I fork over the $$$ for it in these harsh economic times-----whether with a $150 credit or not!

Thanks everyone for your graciousness and understanding!
