I eventually gave up and resorted to using it only in the Kindle app. Anyway, because of your suggestion, I tried it with the plugin; I started the process around midday and just left it alone. I actually forgot all about it until I checked it out a few minutes ago and saw that it hatched a lovely epub file. I'm so thrilled I can now use it in the Marvin app on my iPad!
