Yes, at that time was a bit late
As you found already, you can disable scanning, but is not a bad feature if you also tell Pocket WHAT FOLDER to scan. If you don't set a specific folder, then the app will scan the whole tablet (and that is not good) but if you set one folder, then the scan only will affect that place.
