I may of course be missing some settings. Didn't like at all that it started automatically scanning my device for books and if I want to remove them from the readers library it appears it deletes the book from the device. It displays very similar to Mantano at first look.

I don't know what version of Pocket you tried but with the last one you CAN adjust indents, you CAN set paragraph spacing and you CAN DISABLE the automatic scanning at the beginning
In order to set indents and paragraphs spacing do the following:
1. Tap in the center of your tablet and select the "Option" icon (on the top bar, the icon on the right side).
2. Select the option "Format" and check the option "Force formatting".
3. Now select the option "Paragraph" and tap where you read "Paragraph separation". Select the option "Indent & space between".
4. After step 3 you'll see that options "Paragraph indent" and "Paragraph interval" are now available. You can set those values in em, pt, px, mm, cm, %, etc. So, you have plenty of options here.
In order to disable automatic scanning, do the following:
1. Go to the Library and tap the left icon on the top bar.
2. Select the option "Settings".
3. Uncheck the option Automatic scanning.
Give it a new oportunity to the app; you'll see is better than many others
Regards
