June 2014 update:
I have found found Kobo puts books in the
\kepub directory. Ebook files will be named like, for example
q1w2e3r4t56y. I simply add an .epub extension to the end and it can be opened with any standard ebook reader software. I have tried some free samples so far.
So, can you confirm Kobo uses standard EPUB for paid books as well, in 2014?
To the topic: but it still can't add offline books, right?
