unable to download Overdrive library book

EDIT Workaround found, see EDIT at end of post

Has anyone else had this problem? Using my PC, I checked out a book, clicked download, and the usual popup came up where it gives you the choice to download, save, or cancel. When I click download, nothing happens - nothing at all.

I tried logging out on my PC, and going to the library directly on my PRS-T1, but it says "This device does not support this format" (it now says that for all books which I had previously downloaded using my PC).

I tried closing and restarting both Reader for PC and Internet Explorer but this did not help.

EDIT TO ADD NEW INFO - while logged into my library account on the PC I tried clicking "save" instead of "open" - this caused a message to pop up in Reader for PC that it detected a download, do you want to import? I clicked yes, and now I have the book in Reader for PC.
