I totally agree! I see so much potential and $$$ for a working e-ink product. It is incomprehensible to me why this niche is still not covered.

I know. This is exactly the reason I tried the Onyx Boox M96!
Also, the Sony DPT1-S1 is not being sold openly. At least, I couldn't find a reasonable shop to order from.
However, I do oppose
strongly that paying customers are used as beta testers.
If this product is not ready for end users ... well, be transparent about it! Let people know what they are getting themselves into.
Quite frankly I am more than willing to help! But I am not begging to be heard while at the same time paying big bucks for a maybe type of product.
