If someone could write a tutorial on how to use other stores, I'd look in to it.
As for Japanese site, maybe situation will change. Maybe this is just a little calm before a storm of coupons

Geralt here's how I see the Japan situation - please correct me where I'm wrong:
- the Rakuten site,
http://books.rakuten.co.jp/ , doesn't have options to change countries;
- if you've got membership with the Rakuten site, then you are blocked from using the kobobooks.com site;
- the kobobooks. com site has options in the Payments section to change countries to basically anywhere in the world EXCEPT Japan;
- Japan now no longer is accepting codes that are on offer from kobobooks.com sites;
So, it sounds to me like you're going to have use the VPN option in order to create a kobobooks.com account in the country of choice. That country will depend on which base currency you want to use, say Indian Rupees, or USD, etc. (Singapore is USD not SGD, as are a number of other countries USD and not their own currency - but more on that if you choose to take up the VPN option)
You can use your own Japan address for the kobobooks.com country you choose, and you can pay according to whether Paypal is available, gift cards, credit cards etc.
Also, once you have established that account then you can change countries from within the payments section at will. (I have different accounts established for different countries that I regularly use) You can only log into 1 country at a time.
What do you think so far?
