Or you could consider upgrading to a refurbished Galaxy Note 8, which (in addition to the S Pen) also comes with a 1280x800 pixels. Factory refurbished (with warranty) for about $210 to $220.

Or you can also look at a Galaxy Tab 3 or 4, 8" for $239 or $249, both have 1280x800 pixels.

I don't know the difference between the Galaxy Tab 7 Lite and non-lite, but they sell new for $149 at Amazon. (These can also be bought factory refurbished for $109.)

I guess what I'm saying is that I wouldn't limit myself to just the two choices.

(I should add, my nephew (who was traditionally an iPad user) decided on a Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 for his latest purchase -- and he (and his wife) love it.)

EDIT: I thought the new Nexus 7 had a 1280x800 pixels. A quick check shows 1920x1200 -- a huge difference. So that pretty much negates most of what I wrote above.
