EDIT: It works great.
The only improvement I can think of for your next release is to use the koreader icon for Nickel to koreader and the exit icon for return to Start Menu. This way the png-files point to the same action whether you installed this modification or not, whether you go via the now obsolete fmon route or via Start Menu
