An always on DRM would mean a lot of older Readers would just not work and the advantage of eInk's longer battery life would not be such as the WiFi would cause an unnecessary drain on the battery. Plus, all the Readers that don't have WiFi would just become junk for no good reason at all. I can easily see many people unable to afford to replace their Readers and that would then make reading much harder for them.
I was on a cruise recently for the first two weeks in May. WiFi on the ship is satellite. It did not work all the time when out in the middle of nowhere and it it's expensive. So with no net access, the perfect place to read would no longer be the perfect place to read. Plus, it would be a hassle to have to carry many heavy pBooks given no room in the luggage and the luggage close enough to the weight limit for the airline.
This would seriously impact many people's vacation where they do like to read. I did see a lot of people reading using Readers and tablets. More so then pBooks.
