One thing you should keep in mind is that there is a recommended temperature range for the Kindle. I tried to find it in Kindle specs, but now can't for some reason. However, there is definitely a high and low limit to ambient temperature where you should not use it.

Riding a chair lift in cold weather and having it out in your hands might well cause a problem. Be sure and check that out. Ditto for hot desert temps in summer.
