Big Markdown on James MacGregor Burns' First Volume of The American Experiment

You may have noticed from the amount of posts that I do in the subject that history is one of my favorite genres.

The Vineyards of Liberty is the first volume of James MacGregor Burns' magisterial trilogy on the history of America, called The American Experiment. I have to assume that markdowns of the other two volumes will be forthcoming soon. However, you may be like me, being more interested in the early history of this country and, therefore, not so interested in owning the last two volumes anyway.

The Vineyards of Liberty (The American Experiment). By James MacGregor Burns. Rated 5 stars, but from only 1 review at the present moment (this is hard to explain, because this book is a classic that has been around for many years). Digital list price $9.99; Kindle price now $1.99. http://www.amazon.com/Vineyard-Liber...+Experiment%29. If you would like to go ahead and purchase the entire trilogy, you can get it on mobi/Kindle for a good price ($9.99) at http://www.amazon.com/American-Exper...nds+of+Freedom. The ebook is available (ePub, of course) and discountable at Kobo. Money is tight in the GtrsRGr8 household right now, so he has gone the Kobo route. The best discount available at the present time looks to be 30% and there is a multi-use code "saku39" (without the quotation marks) which will get you a quick 30% ($0.60) off at checkout, for a total price on the book of only $1.39.

The first volume of Burns’s stunning account of American history, from the birth of the Constitution to the dawn of the Civil War

The years between 1787 and 1863 witnessed the development of the American Nation—its society, politics, customs, culture, and, most important, the development of liberty. Burns explores the key events in the republic’s early decades, as well as the roles of heroes from Washington to Lincoln and of lesser-known figures. Captivating and insightful, Burns’s history combines the color and texture of early American life with meticulous scholarship. Focusing on the tensions leading up to the Civil War, Burns brilliantly shows how Americans became divided over the meaning of Liberty.
Vineyard of Liberty is a sweeping and engrossing narrative of America’s formative years.
