I think I might get the Nexus for reading stuff and use my older 8.9 HD as I do now for my lovely hidden object games. Not sure how the Nexus would work with amazon apps as I only buy my stuff there. I have no interest buying anything from the google store. That is why I wish the Fire 7 hdx didn't use that blue lighting stuff as I have seen pictures of it and it would bother me. But overall I am just more of a amazon consumer and the Nexus makes me a bit nervous. I can't use prime videos on it, no idea how well the amazon apps work on it and for me the fire system is just very easy to use. Sigh. I just want something to be easy.

But I will wait a bit first, send the info to Scribd and make do with the original fire for now.
The vast majority of the apps on Amazon's app store will work fine on the Nexus 7. You'll just have to sideload Amazon's app store app (they will E-mail you a link to download it) making even that dead simple to do. I use apps from Amazon's store on my Nook HD+ and my mother's Nexus 7 as well. Works just fine. In fact, I have better luck with some apps showing compatible with my devices from Amazon than from Google Play. (Disney's Where's My Water/Mickey/Perry being a notable example.)

Once you have the tablet linked to your account, the website will show you what devices any individual app is compatible with before you buy too.
