Have you tried uninstalling CC and just using Moon+ on its own? Use each app in isolation in case they are interacting in some way by being installed at the same time. I'm assuming CC installs an Android service and runs constantly in the background?
I'd also try opening the books with something else, such as FBReader just in case the books themselves are somehow corrupt and causing the reader apps to crash.
Did you install Moon+ from the Play store or somewhere else? What version are you running?
