I thought I was going to get a mini last year, in anticipation of the retina model, but dithered when the price went up $70 and made the iPad Air look like a better deal with its slightly better screen (in terms of color gamut). I'm still dithering, and at this point I'll probably just wait for the next generation iPads, then try to sort out my requirements vis a vis the screen size.
Moving ahead with purchase decision would be made easier if: 1) the base model had 32GB at the same price points, and 2) they add cursor support in iOS. Probably zero chance of the latter (this seems to be part of Apple's way of 'differentiating' iOS from OSX, so you need one of each), but I think it would add versatility that I'd otherwise miss after using an Android tablet for several years.
