The code base used for the firmware is same for all the devices. Only the packaging is a little different for the different devices. This firmware is purely about getting the Mini caught up with the other devices and future releases will most be for all the devices. Because of that, it makes sense that version number fits in with the overall scheme that Kobo uses.

And because of the above, the function available is basically the same across the different devices. The main differences you can see are based on the hardware differences (resolution, light, SD card) and how that affects things.
