By "coming together nicely" I am talking about Windows, Windows Phone, XBOX, OneDrive, Live, Bing, Office, Lync, Skype, Nokia, etc. It's an extensive portfolio of products and services that work together with a common design language and similar interfaces.

I don't find their choices confusing at all. Especially compared to Android. If you are finding them confusing compared to Apple, well, yes, just about anything is confusing compared to their "one device fits all" philosophy.
