The noise is really really unusual, that's what made it so noteworthy. The slide was about seventy five miles north west of where I am, and also boils down to, "did you really think living on the side of a mountain in a rainforest was a good idea?" Not of course to mention the heat and humidity that you have! If there were just a bit more snow I'd be a really happy camper!
