Auto Add - a feature request or suggestion
A suggestion for improving the automatically add feature - or at least streamlining it...
I have a volume of books (a large volume) waiting to auto-add to Calibre. I've tried over the past year creating a script that dribbles the files into the auto-add folder, pacing it so that calibre has time to process and delete what's there, before it adds more to the folder. This has worked surprisingly well, and I've tweaked it so that it runs nearly stand-alone. I went so far as to create an AutoHotKey script that handles the duplicates popup that Calibre shows when it detects a dupe. So it's scripted on both ends, and it works, at least for awhile.
As my library has gotten bigger, I find that I'm getting more and more duplicates, and I'm wondering if there isn't a better way.
Here's my suggestion -
Instead of prompting me for every duplicate, perhaps an "unattended mode" where Calibre detects the duplicate, and instead of asking me, simply moves the file to a different folder (ie c:\dupes), and goes on with the next file. This way, the server stays productive, and I can weed out the dupes from the separate folder at a later time.
My auto add settings are:
- allow only mobi, epub, pdf
- convert all inbound to mobi
- automerge existing books
- check for duplicates
I'm running 1.37.0 64 bit.
Thanks for reading, I'm open to suggestions and happy to help beta test this...
