Trying to run an A/C unit at a 30 F differential from the exterior temp will burn out your A/C unit fast - they have to cycle to rest the moving parts and let the motor cool down. That's why I suggested the oscillating fan - cool down your air overnight and then move it around during the day. Moving air just feels cooler.

For really hot days, set the thermostat at the highest possible temp (say 74) you can stand, and then decrease the setting gradually by degrees as the air mass is cooled down - this allows the unit to cycle and not work as hard.
