I'm not sure what bothered me. Could be the backlighting but I read manuscripts all the time. The text is lighter on Scribd though.
A tablet is not in my near future. I type a LOT of words and really do most of my reading on an e-ink e-reader. It is a disadvantage of the subscription route, but I sure have been able to sample a lot of books. I think I sampled 15 or so this weekend and read quite far on some. Saving Gracie was the winner by a long shot.
It's really nice to have the ability to just read and sample as far as I want to go. Other than the eye discomfort there wasn't any real problems. I prefer an e-reader in my hand for page turns (I have one with a button, no swiping needed). The cursor tended to roam a bit/drift so when turning pages, I sometimes had to stop and reposition the cursor rather than click to turn the page. When it's in the other mode, I can hit page down and I like that better. No cursor to worry about.
