Problem may lie in loose case
For what it's worth -- I dropped my Kobo Glo and afterward it wasn't being recognized by the computer when I plugged it in. Even a factory reset didn't work. Then I realized the on-off switch wasn't working either, and learned the problem might be a loose case on the Kobo. The solution for that was to lay it flat and press down on the case near the on-off switch. I did that and behold! the computer once again recognized the Kobo.
