My thoughts exactly. Amazon can't control what the other makers of ereader tech do or don't do. If they choose to pull their ereaders out of the U.S. marketplace so that only Kindle is left (or close to that) how is that Amazon's fault? Likewise a good number of ebook sellers seem to have gone out of business of late so that Amazon is one of the few left. Amazon didn't force them to do so. Competition between companies is what pays for innovation in a product. You sell item x for $5.00 and either I sell something similar for under that amount or find a new way to do something which makes my product better in the eyes of the customer and then you do the same thing to attract customers back to you etc. The fewer markets for a given product the less need for innovation (in the eyes of the remaining companies) since the customer will have to buy from them.
