I just finished "The Battle of Bretton Woods:John Maynard Keynes, Harry Dexter White, and the Making of a New World Order" by Ben Steil, one of the 2014 Lionel Gelber Prize shortlist books. A dry read, but rewarding in its discussion of the exchanges between Britain and the US during WW2 over the postwar monetary system.
