Bags are always ready, but I doubt we'll need them. There is a coup here every couple of years. It's always just about bloodless, more in name than in actual political change, and usually doesn't have any effect on our daily lives. I was living in Chiang Mai during the coup of 2006, and other than seeing a couple of soldiers sitting in the shade, you'd never know anything was going on. It's a time to take selfies with the soldiers...

Oh no. The Royal Family is still an honored position, recognized by both political factions and absolutely loved by the general population. They have nothing to do with politics though.
