jedavis1, igorsk, gwynevans. the ebook finally went out of 'juice' after last night's trys.
re-connected the ebook to the laptop, and a couple of reset later, the update button from the firmware program was enabled!! yipee.
a 'refresh' of the firmware and presto, the ebook's back in business!!!
i had actually given up hope initially and my wife's encouragement and prayer's must have changed the situation!! not forgetting the pointers you guys gave.
