@Abull - try one or both of

1. type the list of preferred spellings for café, fiancée, fête etc into a text file and then use Edit->Preferences->Editor Settings->Manage spelling dictionaries->Manage user dictionaries->Import list of words

2. Use another dictionary dictionary - try ===>>> http://extensions.libreoffice.org/ex...s-dictionaries and these http://extensions.openoffice.org/en/...che-openoffice

I think the Canadian dictionary would have French spelling for French loan words and US spelling for ...ize, ...or and ..led words etc
