What I do is to go as far as entering the promo code, but no further, until I've gathered all the books I want into their various tabs.
So, I select a book and then go through to the part where I enter the promo code.
Then I select another book and Open Link in New Tab, where I go through to the part where I enter the promo code.
Then select another book and go through the step above, and continue doing this till I have all the books that I want in their separate tabs with the promo codes entered.
Then I finalise each transaction, one at a time. And I wait till each transaction is completed before I finalise the next book, etc.
Is that what you do?

I did exactly the same thing as you (for two books) on Kobo South Africa and I got the Oops message on the second book. I stupidly tried again and got the same message...
BUT the second book is in my library (I've downloaded it) and there is no record of it in my purchase history. I received the receipt for the first book, but not the second. Credit card was deducted with the first book only and this was two days ago.
I'm hoping they don't double-debit me as I haven't used their customer services yet and am not looking forward to it.
