I know that one can open/edit several EPUB from the Editor, but seemingly not from the Editor-which-I-call-Standalone.
I run Windows 7 64bit and I just went into explorer, right clicked a epub and used the Open with feature to open the book in calibre's Edit Book editor. I did this multiple times and now have several books opened in different instances of the editor.
