The freeze would suggest that Ken Maltby's approach would also work for your Aura HD. (Search the thread for the code in which he enters the timings.)
However, you suggest that the script is not called..this would indeed be a _new issue_. Could you check an open an issue at koreader github?

The behaviour I described is indeed for 3.2.0.
Just for the sake of clarity. Normal behavior would be that when you pull the power switch, you get a message saying
Standby!, which disappears as soon as you touch the screen. If you are experiencing new behavior, please create an issue on github.
