When you run into a problem, could you please
test with the latest release? Especially with an important issue such as battery life!
As far as I know _nothing_ changed concerning standby/suspend in the last months or so.
The only place to switch the behavior of the Kobo with a sleep cover, is in the Kobo environment: Kobo Nickel> Settings> Light, suspend, energy> Sleepcover.
What did change in the last versions is that chrox implemented a plugin for network connectivity. This means that wifi is used. Wifi _really_ uses a lot of energy. Could you switch off Wifi in Nickel and see whether your battery life goes back to normal?
If your problem remains, would you open a new issue at
the koreader github?
