The KUAL launcher and the Kindle Menu are two different, menu oriented, applications.

From your post, I can't be exactly clear on which of the two applications you are finding failures in.

Also,
From this thread, the most recent firmware the Kindle Menu was tested on was 5.4.4 (not your 5.4.4.2).

So there is always the chance that Amazon screwed up our menu systems.
