can I set series numbering to drop trailing zeros ?

I am currently using the omnibus "fudge" of adding values before and after the point within series number.

so an omnibus edition of five book which are books 11-15 of a series goes in as 11.15
That looks acceptable on a sort-by series.
It's not ideal but I don't know of any better way, except to put all the series stuff into custom columns.

So that's OK, but an omnibus containing books 1 to 3 of a series appears as 1.30 which suggests that it is a mega compilation of 30 books!

Is there are better way to mange series numbering where you may have a mix of single volumes and compilations ?

a format option which dropped redundant trailing zeros would suffice, but I don't see one
