That can be said of every reader Kobo sells, they all compete with each other. By that reasoning, Kobo should be selling only one reader, but thankfully (for now at least), there's room for both 6" versions.

And there's enough differences between them that I consider them entirely different readers. Infrared vs capacitive touch, and soft non-glare bezel vs shiny flat screen, which are the 2 biggest factors for me why I wouldn't switch to an Aura ever, even if they discontinued the Glo. I'd hunt down a spare Glo in that event at least, if I didn't find anything else that suited me and my usage.
