Actually, when I now look at it properly, mine is a DVD. I found this thread and post #3 dated in 2003 refers to at least one DVD being available

It is almost full, around 4GB of books on it for the two sets of file formats, so another set wouldn't fit on it. So I suspect there was perhaps the choice of formats for the DVD (and perhaps the CDs too) and so mobi would have been one of the alternatives. Memory cells getting strained here though

And yes, The Shadow is on it too.
I have just been slowly working my way through the Battlestar Galactica books when I want a nice easy read as a break; I may have to have another go at some Doc Savage too
