You can install the old Mobipocket Reader (MR) from archive.org and use it as a popup dictionary with the Calibre ebook viewer.

To look up a word

1. Install MR and add some DRM-free Kindle/Mobipocket dictionaries.
2. Enable Tools > Settings > Lookup > Enable Lookup in all Windows applications in MR.
3. Minimize MR and open a book with Calibre Reader.
4. Highlight a word in the Calibre ebook viewer and press F2 (or whatever default lookup key you defined in MR).
