It's intended for lower end hardware. One poster in the Puppy forums described how he got a Puppy instance up as a dedicated media server on an ancient Toshiba laptop with a whopping 16MB of RAM. I wish someone would bring Damn Small Linux into the modern age... I loved that little thing, but it won't run on any of my machines.
