If you do need color, go for a laser printer as well...

I will never ever buy an inkjet again. I'd possibly prefer to shoot myself if I ever need to deal with those again. Slow to start, slow to print, expensive in upkeep, and always in danger of drying out if you don't need to print regularly.

Sometimes, my laser sits idle for months, and suddenly I need a print or a copy. I hit the button, and 10 seconds later, the page is done. (This is including the time it takes the printer to come out of hibernation, and warm itself up.)
Couldn't agree more. I have a non wireless HP laserjet connected through a wireless hub. Antique setup I know but it works.

Paid $149 CAD in 2008 and another $25 to get a replacement black cartridge last year. No mess, no fuss no bother.

My only problem is it's weight, but I bought a very nice wheeled printer stand for $10 from the Salvation Army Thrift Store.

I don't print a lot, less than 1000 PPY I am sure, and not much colour so probably good for another 10 years on current cartridges.

My sister has an Epson Inkjet, and prints far less. Every year she has to buy new cartridges because they have dried out. I tell her to put the tape back on or soak them in water etc. but she is not technically inclined and usually I only hear about it after the fact so it is too late.

Plus laser doesn't smudge or smear.
